SHOOT ME!!! I just cracked an egg and killed a baby :(

Soo i was adding more water and when i turn the lid the window fell out for some reason... yet to be determined... it has never fallen out before and i did not turn the lid completly over just to the side!!! so i decided to open the egg to see if it was fertile or not which this is one that i candle and was not sure about... yep it was there was a little chick in there i am on day 14 GRR and i have decided that i am an idiot!!! maybe the other 50 that are in there will hatch!!

am i that lucky if i dont crack another one?

I cracked a Lavender Silkie egg 3 days ago and I put duck tape over the crack, and it's still doing fine. I think because I didn't break the membrane. Whether it works or not I can't be sure yet. It's only on day 12 so far.

I've done this on day 23 to find a live chick inside.... worst feeling. But I incubated and hatched again.. So all is good when we learn our lesson.

I did it a few nights ago too with a day 13 egg onto a laminate floor from 6 feet up. Not pretty. Accidents happen, don't beat yourself up.

On my last hatch, I tripped over the cord on day 18, pulling the incubator to the floor. All 19 eggs broke. I'm still not over it lol, but it was only 2 weeks ago. So, I feel your pain.

I've been really lucky so far. But I know my turn's coming. It happens to us all at some point. It'll probably be when I've spent $200 for a dozen eggs.

I dropped one on day 19 two weeks ago. It fell almost 5 feet to the floor... Was not pretty.
