hello everyone.
as autumn gets colder, all the mice are starting to move in to the garage and house. this morning i was surprised by the little weasel scampering among tools along the wall. I went over to chase him out, but he had a mouse in his mouth.
I'm leaving him alone for now, since he is eating the pests. Our birds live in coops and runs made of hardware cloth, so the weasel shouldn't be able to attack them.
my concern is if we allow him/her to stay, am I letting them become too used to humans, and will they attract a friend in spring and make babies.

You are braver than I. My only predation has come from a weasel cousin, a mink, and despite hardware cloth everywhere, I would still be reluctant to live comfortably with a weasel in the garage. I, however, am a world class worrier.

Best wishes that your visitor is an unsocial beast who does not want to mingle and mate!

I would be more concerned about having rodents because they attract predators.
