Should I add a Polish or a Silkie?

Houdan are lovely, and ought to be slightly larger than either Polish or Silkies; could be a good idea with your two current big girls?
Great thanks! I’ll be in contact with the breeder in a few weeks regarding getting some new babies. It’s funny that the two girls we have are the huge ones!!! Could we do a polish and Houdan?

I do have 4 Silky they have their own coop and a very secure chicken tractor
fro being out in the yard protect them from our outdoor cats all three of them weigh
more than any silky and taller :gig

I have seen their setup and birds in person and they are really good quality! Super nice people as well!

Would silkies and/or polish be good fits with them?

Thank you for listing them. For the most part it seems you have a fairly docile collection.
Regardless, Silkies no matter where they are will be at the bottom of the pecking order and MAY face a bit of bullying. If you're going to introduce new chickens the polish would seem to me to be the safest effort. With introducing Silkies I'd have to admit I would be hovering around the run frequently.
I had to nurse a Silkie back to health from a severe beating from a roo years ago. I have a buff polish roo now, we decided to introduce 6 pullets to the flock of 6 and it's worked out very well. I have a Brahma roo and 2 hens (all young) that we house in another run....I'm growing monsters!

Great to hear! While we love silkies, we’re going to save them for the future and go down the polish/Houdan route!!!!

Nice Polands. I just rehomed a silver laced...that was one aggressive bird!
Something we all noticed when I delivered him to the feed store. They caged him and put him nect to another sl poland mine was distinct black and bright white with smooth feathers, the other was yellowish and looked a bit haggard. After talking with the other owner we decided it was the water. His got straight well water and ours get filtered and soft water. What a difference it made!
