I haven’t had this happen before. The chick is covered with a sticky film that has hardened and feathers won’t fluff... what do I need to do?
Very active but resting at the moment...

My guess would be to gently rub the chick with a warm q-tip or a paper towel. If she starts acting like she’s chilled, give her about 10-30 mins under the heat lamp/ MHP until she is warm again. Honestly, not washing would probably be fine, just not very pretty to look at.

This happens sometimes but it won't cause the chick any problem. To clean it, gently wipe over the chick with a warm damp cloth or tissues and then put it back in the Bator or brooder to dry. Once it is warm again, repeat the process. This will take maybe three or four times, allowing time between each for the chick to warm up. The important thing is not getting the chick too cold by attempting to deeply clean the fluff in one go. Membrane is very sticky and stubborn to remove. Good luck with your hatchling!
