Should I assist?!

I have a chick with a huge pip and lots of movement, but no zipper. It seems to be trying to get out just through the pip. What do I do?!

As long as the hole looks like it's big enough for him breathe I would hold off assisting him just yet. How long has it been since he's pipped? If it hasn't been too long I'd give him more time to figure it but if he still doesn't make more progress he might be malpostioned.

It had been 12 hours. My mom peeled off the shell and he's out now. But his legs aren't supporting himself. I think they're underdeveloped.

I have three quail that just hatched whose legs are not right. Two of them have gnarled feet and the other has legs that spread out and he cannot stand.

How long has it been since he hatched? May just be weak. Give him time to dry off. Can you post a pic of his legs?

All of the eggs hatched yesterday in an 8 hour window. Thanks for letting me know it could be temporary. I was about to cull them but decided to wait. One of them DID get better and now he's walking fine (one of the gnarled feet ones). The others were just struggling so much, and one more was having trouble too (his legs were spreading out). They've been on paper towels. I didn't take pictures. I read up on how to assist these issues, but right now I'm focusing on the healthy chicks. I just culled the struggling ones.
