Hi! I have a chick that externally pipped since half a day, but a the middle top of its egg and no progress since then. I never had a chick pipping at that place. Should I let him do it himself or I should assist?

Thank you!

Looks pretty normal to me. I wouldn't assist, because it still could be absorbing it's yolk. Chicks can take a while after pipping before they start zipping.

Can you see it's beak? If it is making yawning motions and opening and closing it's beak, it is not ready to come out because it is still absorbing yolk.

If he does not chirp or sounds week you may want to help him.
I started enlarging just enough to get his nostrils out for breathing and he started chirping, I put him back in the incubator to let him continue by his own.

I looked and another mosaic did the same, but passed away, I didn't saw that he pipped and got stuck :( (Wasn't visible from the incubator window, I thought he was just a bit late) I feel so bad.

Actually had to assist him, the membrane was starting to dry and get stuck on his face (I had to soak wet and use a tweezer). Happy to say, his yolk was absorbed and there was no blood when I helped him out. Happy healthy baby ^_^ Thank you everyone!
