Figure I'm just overreacting, but better safe than sorry. I have a 19 week old Golden Comet that hasn't been herself today. Her sister started laying this past week and was hoping that Gertie would follow Henrietta's lead. However, today Gertie has been abnormally quiet and reluctant to move. She has had some free range time and eaten some fresh broccoli as a treat, so I'm not extremely worried. She is normally a part of our small flock, but she has spent time by herself today. Just maybe wondering if she is having trouble passing an egg. I have felt her abdomen, but I'm new to all this so I'm clueless as to what would indicate a problem.

Any thoughts will help! Thanks!

Sounds like maybe she is just about to lay her first egg. I wouldn't worry about it unless it persists for more than two days.

My pullets all reacted differently when they were about to lay their first eggs. Some got more friendly towards me, some got more skittish, some hid all day, some were out and about all day and then I found an egg somewhere weird (let's see: under a tree, in a tree, under our porch, on our porch, and so many more), and some didn't act weird at all. Like I said, if she acts weird for more than two days I wouldn't be worried.
