One of my 13 chicks is pooping what looks like blood. I touched it with my finger and it looks like blood. None of them are acting sick but I’m concerned. They are 4 weeks old, still in the inside brooder but get outside time weather permitting

I would go today to pick up some Corid at your local feed store, and start treating for possible coccidiosis. Dosage is 10 ml (2 tsp) of the liquid Corid or 1.5 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 5-7 days. Try to keep bedding as clean and dry as possible. Are you providing chick grit for them now that they are getting out on grass?

I have corid but haven’t been giving grit. I thought sense they were in the dirt that was grit. I feel terrible that I didn’t know.

Don’t feel terrible. Many people don’t realize that chicks need grit to eat things other than chick crumbles, such as grass, worms, and bugs.

You’re welcome. Let us know how the chick gets along. There can be some little gravels in soil to use as grit, but I usually put it out just in case. Around 2 1/2 months, they can graduate to regular sized grit.
