My hatch date is tomorrow the 11th, but so far I have not even see the eggs move. It is making me worry, im using a foam still air incubator at 99 degrees with humidity at 55. The eggs are sitting in cartons for the lockdown. Should I have seen or heard anything by now or is it a matter of waiting? I am very nervous, its my second attempt at a hatch and my last one failed due to a temp spike.

So an update: It is day 23, none of my eggs have sucessfully hatched. What I have noticed is that two piped but are not actually ready to hatch, they have veins and one from what I can tell still has a large, very clear yoke sack. Any ideas on why???? All the chicks seem to be behind on growth by a day or two because all of the dead ones still had yokes, but also had egg tooths. Is my Humidity too low durring the 18 days and causing the chicks to run out of space? I also feel perhaps my temp was too low being that it never went over 100 degrees and im using a foam still air incubator. ANYONE WHO CAN HELP PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!! I dont want to try another hatch until I know what I did wrong!!!

Also what are the chances of the chicks with yokes surviving if I leave them in the incubator and rub water on them so they dont dry out ?

I will try and keep it higher next time. The temp fluctuates so much i was scared of putting it close to the 103 mark since the temp spike killed my last batch.

Are you trying home grown eggs or shipped?
Maybe your thermometer really isn't accurate. I would get another thermometer or two and a hygrometer. They can be picked up at pet stores or Walmart for about $2 - $10. I would calibrate the hygrometer with salt so, you can make sure you are getting accurate readings.

I have been doing the dry hatch method with low(er) humidity levels with pretty good results but I have a home made cooler incubator and can't give you any suggestions for yours. Good Luck.
