So I've been away for a while and my parents have been looking after my babies, and I came home to find a few of my hens legs look like this dies anybody know what this is and if I can do anything about it? This particular hen seems to be the worst of the lot.

Definitely scaly leg mites. The gunk build up can cause toe loss if it cuts off circulation. There is quite a bit of build up so it's going to take a while to get it cleaned up. You are going to need to soak them to try to soften up the gunk and remove as much as you can gently, don't force anything off and do damage to the skin underneath. It may take several soakings. Apply a vegetable oil (I like castor oil, it's thick) and then cover with vaseline. Some use nu stock ointment. The ointment/oil will also help soften up the gunk. You will need to do this several times a week for several weeks to smother the mites. It will take much longer for the legs and feet to heal. You will need to treat any birds that are showing symptoms, and I would treat the roosts since you have several that look like they have it. A permethrin spray from tractor supply is easy to get to treat the coop.
