I'm a Vet tech Assistant and I have never come across something like this. My hen laid an egg this morning, and now this came out of her cloaca hours after. Any opinions would help.

She is having some sort of reproductive problem, possibly from low calcium, or a problem with her shell gland in her oviduct. How old is this hen? Can you give her a human calcium tablet with vitamin D3 tonight right into her beak? Is she close to molting time? Have her previous eggs all looked normal in shape? Do you feed layer feed and have crushed oyster shell available in a separate container? Hopefully, this is just a one time thing, but it could signal a problem.

My Hen is about 3 to 4 months old. I don't have any calcium tablets but I could definitely get some. I could possibly assume she is close to molting. All of her previous eggs looked great but she barley started to lay she is ok her 4th egg. I don't have any crushed oyster shells but the food I feed them is specifically made for laying Hens.
