Hi all,
I'm wondering should I bring "Baby" to the vet or not. It's almost 7 and the vet who see's birds is working now. He came in at 6pm. Anyways,,,I'm wondering is it worth causing Baby more stress by taking her to the vet. She was attacked by a hawk yesterday,,,,I've been updating on her on here. Today, she ate and drank for me. I'm keeping her inside all day long and she is resting comfortably. She is breathing fine but still seems a bit in shock. She is very still and quiet not walking around very much. There may or may not be internal injuries I don't know. I am trying to decide if it's worth stressing her out even more by taking her in my car for the long trip which is about 40 minutes away. I don't want the vet to just look her over then tell me "Well, we'll just have to wait and see". It's not worth that.
Then again,,,,if I don't bring her and she doesn't make it, I will be angry at myself for not taking her. I just can't decide......is it worth it. Has anyone ever brought a chicken to the vet and had good results by doing so?? Julie

alright then,,,I already made up my mind to do it anyways,,,I can't stand the thought of not going,,,I won't sleep tonight if I don't go so I'm getting dressed and ready to go. Will post on here what vet says,,,thanks, Julie

Good luck! If I had a vet within 40 minutes of me, I'd definitely take a sick bird there. SO much better than worrying and wondering if you did everything you could for an animal you care about. Hope all goes well

Keep us posted....

take the bird to the vet
transport using a cardboard box with towel in bottom and not allowing too much room.
Good Luck
