Should I build a coop like this?

I dont see why you would have any problem making it to any dimension you wanted great looking design I really like the drop pan under the roost I am going to try and build one similar for my bantams soon. Good luck with your build.

I have 3 chicks and 1 roo, but you know how that goes

That's an attractive, simple, design. Is the underneath-the-house part for storage?

How many birds would this comfortably fit as-is?

Yes, I'm thinking about expansion of my flock, too.

That coop has some great and simple features!!!

A different size should be easy and you could pos. use homemade or recycled windows to cut down on cost. Start checking now in Lowe's and Home Depot in the paint section for the unwanted or wrong color paint. We picked up 2 gallons of severe weather paint for $18-$20 total instead of that much or more each. Not as many choices in color but it gets the job done.

Now I have to start planning a coop remodel to copy some of the great ideas from that design!!

Depends on what size of flock you plan on having in the future . If you plan on just keeping four..it might be okay....If you plan on expanding...I would'nt go with this design . I have 15 in a 10x12 coop and even though the weather isn't too bad right now...I have to clean it 1 a week . When it gets cold outside....they will spend more time in the coop ...thus more cleaning . Figure out first how many chickens you plan on having in the future....then build it according to that . No need to spend money on a small coop that will need to be torn down or never used because the size of your flock . I'm not usually one to say this ....but bigger is better when it comes to chickens . If you can only have 4 becuase of restrictions go with that design...if not ....go as big as you can !

I think if you stick with those small dimensions, you may be doing add-on projects in the near future. Chcikens are like potato chips. Nobody can have just a handful. Think larger I would say.

The only problem is that it has a flat roof. All flat roofs eventually will leak. The new Super Walmart that just opened the end of last year has already started leaking. No matter what you do it will leak. I like it aside from that. A very easy build too.
