Pekins are GREAT for eggs. the eggs also are more nutritious, and healthy. they can't fly either. you'll need a warm place to keep the babies in, assuming you get ducklings. I have a barn and recommend a coop or in my case...a HORSE STALL! to put the ducks in at night. predators are definitely an issue. coyotes love to hunt chickens, and sometimes ducks. make SURE you are keeping them in a safe place at NIGHT. I let mine free-range during the day though, and they're fine. don't worry. GOOD LUCK! :thumbsup

Mine live in a horse stall at night also! So much easier to access and clean than a traditional coop and they are really secure at night :)
