I found a guy selling a 300 egg incubator for $125
Wood box, racks, decent condition, works
'was my dads, he was the chicken person'
I haven't seen pics or got brand yet
he will call me back with more details
what do you think?

Are you going to incubate 300 eggs at a time? Does it have a turner/tip tray? If not, I'd go for something smaller with a turner. Just my opinion because I don't have time to turn.

I only have room for 24 eggs in my current incubator. It's a good one and I love it, but it would be nice to have the option of larger hatches.

I have a friend who wants to raise chicks to sell as well.

Just wondered if any of you have these larger old wood incubators (with racks, motor, etc)
and what they are worth.

thanks!!

I have no idea what they cost or are worth. You could do an internet search & see what different bators are selling for.
Check out ebay for an idea of cost too.

It sounds good to me. I would do it. I paid $42 for a still air LG. The turner sells for $42. I don't recall what the fan kit sells for. That is $84 for a styrofoam bator & turner without the fan. $125 minus $84 equals $41. (without fan) With the turner it holds 41 or 42 chicken eggs. I am always afraid a chick will make contact with the heating element & get burnt. It is shallow.

I think it would be worth it if you or someone you know is handy enough to repair it if necessary.
