I keep two of my ducks cliped. Will they fly off together? Thats what i'm afraid of. I would like them to fly away from owls and other creatures.

Thanks!

I have mallards and I have clipped their wings. I do know that there is risk in doing this. But I just wouldn't know what i would do if they flew off. Owls you really don't have to worry about because they hunt mostly at night. But you do have to look out for birds of prey. Bald eagles, hawks, ect. But its really up to you.

Since we're on this topic, I'm curious about readers feedback on the breeds I have. I selected Kahki Campbells and White Layers from Metzers for egg production. Prior to this I had read that these breeds really don't fly, but will flutter and hop about a bit. Can anyone else give me their experience or opinion about this?
Thanks!

Hello ballard and

Khaki campbells and white layers cannot fly. They will try though, boy will they try all in vain. LOL. Yes but you need not worry about them flying off the highest my ducks have jumped is about 2 feet.

Interesting, I have one Khaki that commonly gets about 5' off the ground. It usually happens when I attempt to catch her....
