Should I clip wings?

My poults are just about 7 weeks old and are almost as big as my chickens and I'm thinking of letting them out of their enclosed run and letting them roam in the open chicken run with my 11 adult chickens. That being said I'm afraid that they will fly off, should I clip their wings or do you not recommend I ever clip turkeys wings, and are they too young to have their wings clipped?

what breed are they? my BBB hasn't ever shown any interest or even an attempt at flying. i introduced him at 9 wks to the full grown chickens without any issue. Actually i did have an onrey chicken but she was old and not laying, so i culled her which quickly resolved my issue LOL

If it were me, I wouldn't clip their wings. They won't fly away BUT they will test their flying "abilities" . I'm not a fan of clipping the turkey wings but some people do. I don't have a problem with flighty turkeys. It's not in their genes to fly off. Generation after generation of birds proves to be the same. They never fly away. I think your "generation" should be fine as well.

Looks like they will be set free with the adult chickens in the large run tomorrow. Thanks for the responses, can't wait to see how it works out.

If it helps, I just let ours out for the first time this week and I had the same concerns, about clipping his wings. Well... he tried to "fly" like the chickens but quickly realized he couldn't and hasn't tried since! I think he's a BBB.

I only clipped the wings when it became a problem with them trying to roost in the trees and I did not want them to do that because of predators Possums and coons would kill them at night.
I lock my fowl up at night to protect them and my investment.
