My peahen has just started laying her second clutch of the season. None of her first clutch hatched out. She sat on them for about 36 days til I removed them. So sad.
I am wondering if it is better to collect each new egg and keep it cool til she lays enough to go broody or just leave them all in the nest and see what she does. We have hot days here (high 80's to low 90's) and the summer afternoon rains. I hate to have her set on them like she did the first clutch and then get nothing for it.
Another option is that I could give the first few to one of my chicken hens that has been trying to sit (but I keep removing the chicken eggs - don't need anymore chickens).
But if I want my peahen to do the hatching, is it best to just leave the eggs in the nest or remove them temporarily to a cool room and then return them all at once? Any suggestions?
