I thought Shorty was doing much better (see "HELP! I think I feel an egg. . ." post), so I decided to move her back out to the coop. It's 14 deg. out there, with 15-25 mph winds, but I have 2 250-watt heatlamps in the coop and deep litter, so coop is nice.
We were almost to the coop when Shorty got away from me and scuttled under the truck topper we have in the chicken yard (the "clubhouse"). I see from tracks that she did come out while I was feeding the others, but she went back in and I can't get her out. I fed her, but I can't put out water because it will just freeze in a few minutes. I made a path to the coop and covered it with leaves from the leaf/compost pile; I'm hoping she'll go on her own. I did leave the door open a bit so she can get in.
Should I crawl under the clubhouse and get her? Is she just a little confused by the change in the landscape since last she was out, or is she perhaps still sick?
