I got a mail order of chicks today.
Two have already died, and two are very close. I’ve been giving them Sugar water and special care. It’s like they’re barely alive. I don’t know if I should just cull them or not? I have to leave the house for hours later so I won’t be able to care for them….

If I should cull them, what’s the best way? It has to be quick and easy. I’ve never culled a chick before and definitely don’t want my family involved 🤦‍♀️

Thanks.

Poultry nutri drench direct dosed to the beak is a better choice and saves tons of chicks especially those having shipping stress. Sugar water is far inferior.

Sharp pair of scissors to the neck over a trash can.. usually causes cervical dislocation instead of chopping the head off.. but is efficient.

ETA: also give them a chance to warm up fully.

Did you end up culling them?
Or if you did not, how did they do?
