Should I divide a 24"x15"x15" Nesting box into two boxes?

I have two longer boxes my girls still want to lay in the same place. Never had a broken egg. If I go to collect eggs and someone is on the favorite nest, I just reach under her collect what has been deposited and let her finish her lay.

Okay, so I thought I'd provide an update on what I did since my chickens all started laying their eggs. I put a removable divider into the large nesting box which worked fine the first few weeks and then I noticed one chicken laying in the coop while two other occupied the other nest boxes. I decided to remove the divider to see if that would allow 3 chickens to lay together and that proved to be a bad idea. Instead of them better using the space, one of my chickens decided she wanted to sprawl out over the large box and not let anyone else in so I put the divider back in the next day.

I have since seen 2 chickens share a smaller box while one is the other with everyone laying in the boxes.

The verdict: Two smaller boxes worked better for my 5 chickens than one large one. That said, all chickens are different and others may have different results.

Thanks!

To further ease your mind, I have six birds, had two nest boxes, 12"x12"x14", and took the divider out before they started laying. They're fine. There has only been two times that they've laid an egg on the floor of the coop and they did it under the existing box so there was no problem. I think you're fine with one large one.
