Should I file my ducks nails?

I have a chicken with that problem. I have to file my Took's nails and beak. I have someone turn him over on his back cause for some reason he seems calmer that way and I use a dremel with a sander on it and just sand his bottom beak til it's even with the top one. Plus it doesn't hurt that I talk to him. The nails are different though. I just hold one toe at a time and use my fingernail as a guide and just use the same tool and file until I reach my fingernail. He don't seem to mind.

I wouldn't just clip or file down my ducks toenails until somebody with a lot of experience showed me how to!
Id'r rather have them running over a rough surface, like concrete for a bit so that they file down their nails themselves. Toenails have blood-vessels surprisingly close to the tips and if they're injures its a disaster waiting to happen, y'all know through what disgusting messes our duckies walk with pleasure.

I have never clipped my chickens (or ducks when we had them) nails or beaks. No one had ridiculously long nails either. We do have a cement walkway and they will always run their beaks across the cement. Even if you get a cinderblock to lay down they should get the idea to rub their beaks on it..
Exactly! - Like a scratching post for cats.

My mallards nails grew very long and nearly curled under while she was sitting on her eggs, obviously not getting up very much. After they hatched and she was up and moving again they started to file themselves down with the more activity she did. But I’ve heard that you can use clippers and take off tiny bits at a time as they do have quicks. If you do hit a quick, dip the nail in cornstarch. :)

Ok, now for the humor....
After trimming her nails, be sure to match the color of bill gloss, to the nail polish!
Fashion is everything!
