Should I get a friend for my goat? edit *Found one! Need opinions!*

Could I get a BUCK to go with my goat, or should it be another wether. I am having a hard time finding a wether near me, but there are lots of bucklings, and if I got one of them then I could show it in 4H, and it is then a win-win situation. What do you think?

I would get another wether. If you get a buck, the buck will harass your wether day and night trying to breed him.

bucks are bad bombing, unless you have a need for one. you don't. Honestly, I agree that if your goat doesn't think he's a goat, then don't get him a goat. Also, if you truly think that your guy will not be truly happy without a goat friend-it's not that hard to wether a buckling. Showing a buck in 4-H is not fun. Especially a buck with horns.
And ksacres, I much prefer my does to my wether. Although, this may have to do with the fact that they never advertise that they're in heat. GRR. Only when a buck is around can I tell. But they never do the whole bad-tempered whining thing.

h eis cute! i love goats. and any other farm animal!

i have a couple of goats. i think he would be find with a friend. and he is chasing the other dog becaus ehe knows they dont belong at your house. my nanny would try and beat up our neighbors dog anytime he came down here. we bottle raised her and she dont like anything in her yard if they arent family.

she does let everyone else ( the other goats and sheep) that she is the boss. she was there first. but as long as they know she is the queen they live happily ever after.

Okay. So everybody is split 50/50. I told my neighbor to be on the lookout for some wether goats around, so I'm sure he'll find me one. He's gonna have babies soon, so maybe I'll try one of them. That would be fun.

Just so everyone knows, he knows he's a goat. He was born and raised with them. I think that he is just more dominant then the other goats and thats why he was being a pain in the butt.

I'm very new to goats, but my take on this is, unless you're going to make a "lap goat" out of him, he should have a friend.

My opinion is like a belly button though -- everyone has one.
