Should I get new babies???

I have a small flock of 5 girls that are about 1 1/2 years old. Recently I've lost two to predators ( 1 hawk and 1 dog) . That is pretty traumatic. I let them out to free-range about 3 hours a day, and I'm home when they do.So now I'm wondering...should I just stay with the ones I have left, or take a chance on getting more new chicks (all girls)? I have room in the coop for about 7 chickens, but don't know whether to take a chance on new babies. What would you do?

I would get more babies. After about 2 years your girls will begin to lay less eggs. If you get chicks now, they'll be laying eggs by the fall.

Sorry you lost two girls, I agree, it can be traumatic
