Should I help it? (It needs help!!)

Its still not out but its still trying...but the membrane looks stuck ...is dry..and brown ...is it alright?

I had a similar situation with one chick in my first hatch. It zipped and had a leg out for over a day. The membrane dried out and it was obvious he was getting more and more tired, and eventually his little leg started to shake uncontrollably. I figured I could not make a horrible situation too much worse, so I took the little guy out and tried to gently moisten the membrane with a damp scott towel. The top of the shell was stuck to his back; the membrane was very dry as were his feathers.

I ended up disenfecting a pair of tweezers and SLOWLY and in TINY pieces break off sections of the shell. One piece did not want to come off, so I just left it on.

This little guy lived but got off to a slower start than the other guys. It seemed to take for ever for his feathers to look "right", but he is alive and well and now you would never know the rough beginning.

I took a q-tip and moistened the area around the pip before with some warm water (it looked all dried out) ... and then I broke off the egg that was not attached to duck or membrane I then put it back in the incubator and with that little help she was able to make her way out........... But the little duck had been trying for some time... she lived and is a healthy duck......
If it has zipped I bet it will get out on its own... if it has been working for a while.. maybe needs a little rest to get the energy to bust out of there.... : )

Okay it zipped yesterday at 3 ...its still not out...i really think i should help it...should i??

I had a chick the zipped and pushed and pushed, but the membrane was dry. I got and popped the top off. It practically jumped out of the egg and into my hand. The membrane was dry. I say help it. If it zipped just pop the top off, moisten around the edge of the membrane with warm water and put it back in the bator. I think it will be just fine.

My last hatch had one that pipped, I watched it all night with nothing else happening. I had 2 hatch the next day and roll that one around, so I wasn't sure if it was the same egg or not. Finally I just assumed that was the egg that had pipped first and there was still nothing happening, I could hear the chick. so after almost 36 hours I helped it hatch. When I got it out, its head and right wing was stuck to it. I washed for a long time trying to save the little fellow. That was the stickiest stuff I ever tried to wash off. I would say help it if it nears 24 hours without success. I am happy to say my little fellow is now happy and fluffy.
