I had an egg pip Monday. Shes still on the shell. Now heres the important stuff: these were supposed to be hatching FRIDAY as in the 15th!! I came home monday afternoon and went to turn the eggs, heard peeping , saw pips. So i hadnt started lockdown, hadnt raised the humidity. In fact i was already freaking out cuz the temp was at 106!!!! So i immediaty took off the lid to lower temp, then saw pips quickly ran and got water, filled all the trays, lowered temps, and watched like a hawk. Two duckings hatched monday night, two chicks yesterday evening, and three more last night.
This egg had a big pip, its beak was sticking out and icould see the white liner stuff was all dry. Oh! I was also mistung the eggs like crazy. I gave this one some extra misting. Left it alone for a while. Later that evening i came back and took off the top shell a little so she could get thru the lining easier, misted again cuz it was bone dry in her shell. I take middle ds to 4h, leave eldest dd in charge for an hour til dh got home. I come home to disaster! Theres egg shell on my bedroom floor! The lid to the bator tipped open! Styrafoameverywhere!!!! Littlest dd "helped" the babies,!!!!! Omg!!! I look inside i got 1 chick hatched with its yolk not fully absorbed but luckily its ok now i grab wash clothes, mister, hot water, incubator plugs off the floor fix it all.
Three chicks hatch, the ones that were pipped looked completely dried out, the one i tried to help before, dry. So we decide to pullher out of her shell. (Talking about the one that pipped on monday, no zip). Dh get tweezers and little scissors, cut some of the white lining, pull it back a bit and i see blood vessels so we quit.
Why are her blood vessels still attached to the shell? Is she truelly stuck and just gonna die? Should we try again? Should i wait longer?
Aaaggghhhhh!!!!! Help!!!!
