Should I intervene...?

It's day 24, and this morning I finally heard chirping from one of the eggs (none have hatched so far). It was weak, but there. Some time later, I check to find a small pip! No membrane clearly showing, but there's a crack there alright. I've heard a little bit of cheeping since, but... none in a while. It's been about 4 hours since I saw the pip, and a little ago I heard a bump in the bator, but it's still at the same point it was before. The woman I got the eggs from said that the shells are pretty thick, so my thought is that the baby isn't strong enough to peck through too much.

My question is, should I intervene, just pull back a few chips of shell... and how much longer should I wait if so? I'm so very eager to at least have one baby hatch.

I usually wait 24 hours from the crack in the egg. Sometimes if you peel a little away it dries out the membrain inside and that makes it worse. Remember the first day you put the eggs in isn't really the first day, the first day starts after 24 hours. How many eggs have cracks in them?

Just that one. I think it was the only one chirping, too. I'm just going crazy over the lack of progress- or noise at all, really.

I asked a similar question yesterday and was told to give it a full 24 hours. If NO change in 24 hours then you might need to help it very slowly and carefully. If it is making some progress, however slow, then let it be and take it's time.
