Should I let my chickens out when it is snow on the ground?

Truly, it was REALLY funny when mine first saw snow one morning. They were very...cautious.

I wonder what the birds did before man started creating building for them to live in.

They might like getting wet and cold! Most of my animals do. They will be fine.

I am very new at this, my (three) hens have feed, water and grit. All three were laying really well and now one is laying eggs with very very soft or no shells. Since there is plenty of grit on hand what else can I do?

I meant if they forced them out in the open and shut the coop.

My Silkies chose NOT to go out the first day it snowed- they stood there and looked at me as if I had made this white stuff all over their happy grass.

Since the second day of snow they now come out and wander around some, but I always leave the coop open so they can get in if they choose to. I also have an attached covered kennel next to my coop, so they always have some clear ground year round. But, I still let them out to wander.
