5 of my hens are 4 months old , they are 2 production reds and 3 black australorps. I have 2 buff orpingtons that are 18 weeks old. So what my question is should I open the nesting boxes? Nobody has layed yet but 1 of my australorps has a very red comb and wattles.

I was advised by another member to open it up to them at 16 weeks old. I actually was a couple days late and found an egg on the coop floor but she learned quickly to lay eggs in the nest box.
