As most of you have experienced, we have been in the middle of major heat wave. I got 2, 3 week old chicks a week ago at the start of the heat wave. They integrated with my 4 other chicks that were 3 1/2 weeks. They did not used the heating pad for a couple of nights so I took it out. They were without for the last two nights and did fine, but it was pretty warm. Now the temps are dropping again. Forecast says it will be down to 20C (68F) tonight and then down to 18C (64F) for the next few nights. Should I put the heating pad back in. I don't want my babies to catch a chill. DH says I am over-worrying.

Unless they're sickly or frizzled/silkies they're old enough to be without heat at this point.
The 3 week olds are legbar and the 4 week olds are australorp. Everybody seems well. The legbars are skittish and quiet but that is probably because they are the smallest and maybe goes with the breed? I am new to this so I am learning as I go (with the help of all the wonderful people of experience on BYC).
