Well I just filled up the incubator the other day and go figure I have a hen go broody on me. I have never let the hens hatch them befor but I figure since the chicks will be so close to the ones in my incubator I will let her be. But my question is should I let the chicks with the hen be or should I remove them and put them with the other new chicks. The hen is in a nest box about 5 foot off the ground which also concerns me for the new chicks when hatched

Leave the chicks with the mama, she will do a better job than you of teaching them how to survive in the coop.

Is there a ramp to get up and down? Is there a front face to the nesting box to keep them from rolling out until they get strong enough? What I did was right before hatch day I put a small water dish and food fish in corners of the nesting box. That let the mama get nourishment for the 2-3 days in which she won't be leaving the nest and gives the newborns a chance to eat and drink until they are strong enough to manage the outside world. Granted my drop off was only 8 inches but it concerned me. They are doing fine. They only took one day before they were jumping over the front of the nesting box and scurrying down the ramp.
