Hi, i have a 30' x 15' fenced run for my 8 chickens (4 just moved out there and 4 are still in the brooder). The run is decomposed granite on top of black fabric weed barrier. This is because we put the weed fabric down before realizing we would put the run there.
If i leave it like this, i cant figure out how to keep the run clean enough. If I remove the weed fabric, will the hens turn the soil enough to where the poop will not be an issue at all?
I told my husband the chickens would LIKE weeds but he would rather put planters with weeds out there than rip up the fabric.. haha...but thinking about chicken poop i think we need to rip it up anyway.
The coop has sand that i sift every 1-2 days.
