Should I sell my breeders or sell their eggs or hatch them out or what

I would do this:
sell fertile eggs; on here, CL & Ebay - set your price a stick to it
Hatch the eggs that don't sell & sell the poults - on here, CL & Ebay - set your price a stick to it
Keep the ones that don't sell raise and take pre orders for Tday - local paper & CL - set your price a stick to it
Sell whats left as breeding Trio's
Keep what's left for your next years interprise breeders . . .

At $35 a jake I need to make run down there! I have about 20 Midget White jakes that are selling one by one at $20 each and ever so slowly.

Steve,

I can't believe turkeys are so cheap out there! Even here in rural East Texas a jake goes for $35-45.

I don't understand that either. I would think they'd be worth more than that just for the meat value. I need to ride over there and pick up a bunch.

It's all in the marketing folks ALL in the marketing.
I sell my birds here for three times what everyone else does, and I sell out first.
I helped a girl on another thread the other day; she lives in an area outlying Seattle and was trying to sell her butcher size meat birds but wasn't getting a single call of of CL, I rewrote her ad and in a few days she was sold out and had a waiting list for her next batch.

Alot of people around here raise turkeys so the price is low. I could drive 2 hours west to Raleigh and get more.

Thanks everybody. This really helped me clarify which direction I want to go. I sold the Royal Palms this morning and was glad to see them go. The more I thought about it the more I realized I really don't want to get rid of the Bourbon Reds. I'm going to hang on to them and try my hand at selling eggs and incubating them. I wanna be like KatyTheChickenLady!

Gotta get an incubator next. I guess I'll go bug that forum for awhile, lol.

Thanks guys!!
