Should I separate chick from parent?

One of my broody hens just hatched a chick. I'm worried about it. They're in a high nesting box with no way for a young chick to get up and down. The main water dish for our chickens isn't chick friendly. We have several other chickens, including roosters, and I'm afraid they might hurt the chick or worse. Also, what if it gets dehydrated? I want to put it in with some ither chicks where I know it will be safe, but IDK about separating it from its mother. I live in the country, so we do hace some predators and I'm worried that it might doe somehow outside if a brooder. I want to keep it safe. What should I do?

I would seperate the chick in a brooder. Could you get other chicks? Its never a good idea to raise chicks on their own.

Do what is in the best interests of the chick. If you don't think the environment is safe enough then I would move it to a brooder. Your hen will just think she lost it somewhere and move on.

Is there a chance your hen may hatch more eggs so the chick has company?

What i do with my quails if I feel they aren't safe in the avairy is I bring the chicks inside with their mothers in a brooder big enough for all of them, but as chickens are quite a lot larger, I'd consider moving it to a brooder with other chicks that's safe from predators and weather, but do be careful incase the mother gets distressed, as thats happened with my quails and old chickens before

You can raise 1 chick without companion chicks, the thing is that the chick starts to behave like a pet, till it becomes an adult. Just went through with one, he was about 2 months old then a bobcat nabbed him during the day. He would try to flock with the parents but ended up by himself most of the time. And that was a hard lesson for me to learn.

He'll have companions, just a little bigger than him. They're about 3 weeks old. They've got a lot of feathers now, but are still pretty small. I don't think they'll hurt a young chick. I'm just worried about it bc it's so little and one of my other chickens might hurt it.

My coop is basically an old barn. It has lots of space for my chickens to run around inside and out. If it jumps down to try to follow its mother, it might not be able to get back into the nesting box. They're elevated, so it's not easy for a chick to get back inside. I have a lot of adults in the coop, including a few roosters. And I'm just worried about it.

She did peck it's head a few times while I was holding it, but that might be due to stress. I put it under her and left them be for the night. I hope they'll be ok.

She'll have older sisters, but they're still small and mostly feathered out. I dont think they would hurt her.

She might. There was another chick that apparently died while hatching. I have some 3 week old thst I could put the new chick with. They shouldn't hurt her.

Thats a good idea, I'd try that out
