Should I spray a wooden coop down with water?

After getting rid of the wood shavings and poop in the coop should I be spraying it with water before disinfecting then again afterward? We built our coop ourselves so I am worried that spraying it with water, over time, would cause it the would to rot.

As long as I you thoroughly dry it, it should be fine.

You definitely don't want it to be damp at all. Chickens are sensitive to respiratory illnesses from mold. If your climate is dry, you might be able to get away with hosing it down once a year, but I wouldn't do it often. I would think it would have to dry for a couple days before you put any bedding back down.
