hi!! quick explanation;
newt (mother) and buzzard (father) had ducklings two years ago. three of them ended up surviving, along with a boy.
the next year, i get two more ducklings from where i had bought buzzard so they might've been his siblings, half siblings, etc.
tokki, buzzard's son, mates with one of the ducklings, dulce, i got from where i got buzzard. so they are somewhat related, im guessing cousins or so?
i did not intend for them to mate or hatch ducklings, tokki was with the girls last week while i cleaned out their enclosure before he was separated again. i go to find dulce laying on 6 eggs, only 2 are fertile and look to be on day 5-6. shes extremely broody and has been trying to hatch eggs all year but i take them away since my only current breeding male is related to all of my girls besides one of them.
since they are only 5-6 days old, i dont mind throwing them out but i do feel bad
i didnt plan on hatching any more ducks soon since im going to be going to college in two years and i need to figure out my situation with that and my nine ducks.
im also fearful of genetic issues such as deformities or health problems. the only "issue" any of my ducks have had is angel wing, which buzzard had angel wing but didn't pass it down to any of his babies.
tokki, the father of the two fertile eggs, is 2 years old while the mother, dulce, is 1 years old. they havent had any health problems at all.
so my question, should i give the eggs a chance, or should i throw them out? im fine with either, but i am nervous to give them a chance.
i wish i wouldve found the eggs sooner, but theres been tons of wasps trying to set up nests and ive already been stung lol so the past week ive just been quickly getting food and water in there and checking where they usually lay. where these eggs were laid is a place ive never seen them lay eggs at.
