Should I Treat Sour Crop while also Treating Respiratory Infection?

Oh, I see what you're saying now.
If you do end up with more with symptoms and won't be around to treat with the Tylan50, then yes, it would be a good idea to have the Tylosin powder for the drinking water.

With new cases, do they also need to be treated mid-day or is it just cases that have progressed to have more symptoms? I’d much rather treat the individual that comes down with it instead of giving antibiotics to the entire flock. On a better note, Betty hopped out of the coop today and went straight for the food. She still has a bit of congestion and a few sneezes, but on the whole seems like she has more energy. Hopefully a few more days of meds and she’ll be symptom free.

I'm glad she's perking up a bit.

Well, ideally you would want to treat with the Tylan50 three times a day this is what most see the best results with, but if you had a hen that needed treatment and you can only give twice a day, personally I would increase the dose.

Don't freak out on me by me saying that, bear with me. Tylan has a large dosage range of 10-40mg/kg given 2-3 times a day, what you are giving right now is "mid range" at 25mg/kg (0.25mg per pound of weight (1/2.2 x 25/50=0.23 rounded up to 0.25 for ease of measuring)).
SO...I would increase to 30-35mg/kg given twice a day IF needed which would translate 0.27 and 0.31mg per pound of weight. Given those 2 numbers, again, imho, I would go with 0.30mg per pound of weight given twice a day...IF you can only give 2 times a day (but you could give 3 times a day as well).
Hope that's not confusing:oops:

Thank you for the guidance. I really appreciate your knowledge about dosing. I feel a lot better knowing I’m not hitting the top of the range with Betty’s meds. I know how meds can hurt kidneys and don’t want to cause another problem while treating a different one. That said, Betty looks so much better with them proper dose. There are days when I might able to sneak home from school and give a dose, but most days I can barely eat two bites of lunch let alone leave campus. It’s good to know there’s a 2-dose option if needed. I’m crossing my fingers that we don’t have any other hens come down with it. The flock is by and large very healthy.
