Should I wait until Spring to get ducks?

I'm wondering if I need to wait until Spring to get my first ducks. Somewhere to keep them isn't an issue. I have a brooder already and we'd keep them in our garage (our garage is heated) until they were fully feathered.

If you want them now, and you have the facilities for the stink

then I would go ahead and get them now!

If you are only getting a few and like rainplace mention about the stink, I would go ahead and get them.

I can't find ANY around this area. I found in another post that Metzer lets you order just two. My only concern is that they're coming from California and I'm in NC. That's a LONG way. Will they survive that trip?
