Should they be laying by now?

I wish. I'm waiting on my to start. But I think I have to catch them and pen them up again. They will lay all over the place. :/

PeepsCA (and anyone else who knows),

I have penned up my hens and A Few Good Men, where they will stay for the laying season, so I can get my Keet Fix. Seeing as I am used to rolling around in briar patches to collect eggs, I'm not sure now what to do for penned up hens. In their pen, there are 5 chicken-style laying boxes mounted on the wall. Should I do anything different? Knowing guineas, they will just lay their eggs on the floor. But I want to provide something better if y'all have any suggestions.

A couple pieces of plywood leaned up against the coop walls (and secured so they won't fall on them), medium sized dog crates with the doors removed, recycling bins, wooden produce boxes etc have all worked well for my penned breeders. I also made a teepee structure out of a couple pallets that is a favorite. And I always make sure there's extra deep bedding in the corners.

I'm in Virginia and mine usually don't start laying until late to mid March however .... when I got home from work on Friday (Jan 25th) with the snow, sleet and ice coming down like a blizzard, I found two guinea eggs sitting in the middle of the coop. Like a gift from the Guinea Gods!

Haven't seen another egg since. Today it is in the 70's and they are calling for more cold by the end of the week. No wonder they are so confused ...... I'm confused!
