I've read some threads on the subject and I guess I'm not sure what is best. Our nearly 1 year old Polish started wanting to roost high, high up (maybe 10 foot) in the tree most nights and just this weekend we went out to do some errands and when we pulled in the drive, she was on the wrong side of the gate. It's maybe only 4 foot high.
I don't mind her in the tree because we can get her down but I don't want her getting into the driveway and potentially on the road or the unthinkable....
she often scoots up the yard half flying buy not far off the ground, for treats and I want her to still be able to do have that.
Should we clip her wings?
Will clipping only one feather still enable her to have some flight?
Is she too old to clip now?
Will the local avian vet do it if required?
Not sure what to do!

Clipping wings is an easy enough job, it wont require a vet visit. Have someone hold the bird, extend the wing and cut off ALL of the primary flight feathers. If you just take one feather, she'll still fly without issue. I usually only clip one wing. It seems to throw them off balance and keeps them grounded...for the most part. Some stubborn birds still fly no matter how much you clip. They just flap harder.

YouTube is your friend, watch a couple of videos and then cut their wings. Easy peasy :)

I have been doing more reading, I haven't watched any videos but I think I'm getting used to the idea. It may not be such a bad thing to do. I hope if we clip her wings she will get out of the habit of wanting be jump things.
Thank you
