Should we switch to a better incubator?

I have spent hours reading from this forum, and have learned a lot from you all. (Thanks!)
Now I have a question to ask you who are experienced.

We are on day 6 of incubating our duck eggs, and so far 10 out of 12 eggs seem to be right on track when we candle them. (Yeah!!!) But my concern is that our incubator holds a nice steady temp during the day, but sometimes during the night, for a reason we haven't figured out yet, the temp. goes higher. We have started getting up during the night to check it, because we don't trust it anymore. It is one we made ourselves out of an ice chest, with glass panel in the top, with a light bulb and tiny fan inside that is hooked up to a dimmer switch. Anyway, We have a friend that has a really nice commercial one that she said she can loan to us, since we are stressing out about ours. Do any of you think there would be any problems with switching our eggs we are currently incubating to that incubator (once we make sure that temp. is regulated)?
Alos, we have been turning our eggs by hand 3 times a day, and this one has an automatic turner. Would it be a problem to switch them to this automatic schedule, or should we keep turning them by hand as we have been doing?
Any advice is appreciated. Now that we have seen their little heartbeats, we are really, really excited, and want to do everything we can to have them hatch safely!

Usually I only notice the temp going lower at night due to the cooler temps outside. Do you turn heating inside the house at night still??? Switching the eggs shouldnt be a problem - it only takes a few moments to move the eggs - not much longer than candling or turning would take.

As for the turner - it depends what kind it is- as duck eggs tend to do much better laying on their sides.
