A leghorn of any color is a stunning bird in my opinion. Are you visiting local breeders for your show bird?So I am looking for a chicken that is pretty , and we’ll just a good show bird, but it also can’t be expensive. Any ideas for me?

Hatchery stock are not show quality. So it just depends on what bird I choose. But I might get from a hatchery.
Okay thanks. It just depends on the bird itself, like i really want some polish chickens, but can’t find a goldI would suggest going to a show and talking to breeders. Most shows have a sales section where they will sell individuals, pairs and trios from breeders. They will be much higher quality than hatchery stock. And to be honest they will probably end up being cheaper. Hatcheries have minimums and there is no garuntee they will be show quality when they grow up. At shows you can buy adult birds and make contacts with good experienced breeders near you that you can talk to when you need advice.
Check poultryshowcentral.com (that may not be the right site but Google that and you can find the site. It has a calendar of shows around the country.
Eta - a lot of people start with OEGB. Do you want something challenging/rare? Or something common? Common breeds like OEGB or silkies will have more competition at shows which would make it more challenging. Uncommon breeds will be harder to find but will set you apart.
I’d recommend trying to get hatching eggs. You can basically get birds from all over the country from amazing breeders. There’s a Facebook group called “USA fertile hatching eggs”, you could post an ISO there specifying that you’re looking for exhibition eggs. There is still no garuntee they will be show quality but chances will be much better.Okay thanks. It just depends on the bird itself, like i really want some polish chickens, but can’t find a gold
lace polish rooster ( I have a female of that breed).
