Show me your "dog house" coop...please?

here is ours....the dog house is from Lowes and the goats keep tearing the lid off.....we move it around the field so the chickens have fresh grass.

I like what I'm seeing. I have an 8x10 chainlink fence dog kennel (no house) that I'm considering converting into a chicken pen. But it won't be mobile. I need to figure out a roof for it and some sort of box inside it for the hens to nest. I was planning to buy a plastic dog house, but now you have me second guessing that. Do I need to put chicken wire along the kennel or will the chainlink be sufficient?

I use chainlink for my big girls. I'm going to have to put something smaller like poultry netting around there before our babies arrive. Be sure to cover the top also to keep out the predators.

wow I havve 3 dog runs that I coulld use for breeder pens by just adding a dog house.I already have 2 dogloos the runs are 8ft.x10ft.so if I just put a roo in with 2 or 3 hens I should be all set to get some pure eggs.

The dog house we have is about 6yrs old. It has sat outside for my weiner dogs' shade area when they were outside for the same amount of time. There is an old chair cushion in there & it has been completely waterproof for all of those years, cuz that cushion isn't moldy, nor wet. I checked out the brand & what is left of the sticker, there is a "PetNation" listed on it. I don't know if this is a good brand or not, but it has worked very well for us

I have a chainlink area off of my house as well & use it as a seperator area for our dog when guests come over. I'm thinking about putting our dog house coop w/an smaller attached run inside the chain link fence.

That way, when I'm gone they can be safe in their smaller run & then when I'm home, I can allow them to run the chainlink area for some extra space.

Man, my dh is going to kill me when I get this going

I went and bought this dog house today. Got it assembled before dark. I added a little ventilation around the edges and put hardware cloth in the windows. It's big enough for me to sit inside!

Just curious how you fitted out the inside roosts/nestboxes?? - do you have a picture of the inside?

I hope the fact that it's cedar doesn't hurt the chickens. It feels like they added extra oil! I've used regular cedar wood before and it didn't make my hands greasy. It will have about a month to air out before the chicks start sleeping outside, so hopefully that wil help.

How funny! I am thinking about getting that same cedar doghouse. My Lowe's doesn't have it, but the manufacturer (Backyard Botanicals) has it for $150. At least I think it is the same one. I wonder if the shipping will be a killer though.
