I have this exact image pinned as something to implement this year! I'm planning to make a simple frame and sandwich some of that thick plastic poultry netting over the top. I've seen people use chicken wire or hardware cloth, but that seems so rough on their feet.
 
Oh wow both these are amazing! I was trying to figure out how to get grass to grow in their yard without them gobbling it all up as it grows.
 
Somewhere in here there is another similar thread about how high/deep they need to be otherwise the seeds don't grow well enough. I've never tried it, I've just grown sprouts and then tossed them in the run
Hmmm scratch frame depth. I’d say that’s a good play… about 6-8 inches deep seems to be what is effective. Tossing in seeds every now and again for spouts. Mostly rooting plants, Sunflower and mint family plants.

i could never be brave enough to plant mint any where near my home lol that stuff spreads like herpes at a college party
