Tommyboy, what type of chicks do you have -- I have two that look just like yours and I'm trying to figure out what they are.

Here is my coop. We live in Tampa and heat was a big concern to me, so it's open on all four sides, with an elevated, enclosed hen house that has walls on 2 sides (which are also egg boxes and cleaning door access). It faces west. It's 8' by 12' with 8' ceiling, enclosed entirely in hardware cloth, buried 1' under the ground. I added the roll up shade because after 3 PM they get the direct sun and it's REALLY hot otherwise. The roof is 80% uv protection. 4 chickens: 3 Ameraucanas and 1 Cochin all around 4-5 months old.
