this is my quail coop! Only have two coturnix atm but have some in lockdown so when they hatch and grow I'll introduce the girls and they'll join. Have to sort that ladder out as they can't climb it so may put some chicken wire to make it easier

Do large runs not make it very difficult to collect eggs? Especially if you provide plenty of shelter I imagine it becomes a bit of a scavenger hunt.

Here are a few of my cages. The blue one I built to hold my breeders it is 3'x6' 3 levels. I have another one just like it (I like the solid floor cages better than wire floor). I use some old rabbit cages i got really cheep for my grow outs they are 2'x2' one has 5 cages the other has 4.

Has anyone used this type building/shed as a coop/brooding place for Quail?

Was thinking of this with a 10" long run/aviary coming off the backside made with pressured treated lumber and 1/2"x1/2 hardware clothe on all sides, with metal top on run. Thinking of pouring a 2" thick concrete slab to set the building and run on. I could put sand/granite rock dust on top of the concrete in the run part..maybe have a lip on the edges so the sand/rock dust stays in. Maybe adding a few weep/drain holes, no bigger than 3/8", so any rain, even a washing would drain out of the run.. All these ideas, and a thin wallet doesnt make for good bed fellows though..lol.
