Here is my ragedy-looking, yet sturdy 9' x 3' QUAIL PEN.
I guess I can't complain because it was scrap wood pieced together.
Only cost $53 and that was for the 2 sheets of plywood for 5 of the walls (already had the floor piece) and for the 25' roll of hardware cloth for the open-air section. What do you guys think?

looks nice, believe me, quail don't care what it looks like.
one question, did you use 1/2" cloth on the bottom, i can't really tell in the pictues. i can tell you right now, i made mistake of putting 1/4" cloth on the bottom of my first coop...OMG DON"T DO THAT, IF YOU HAVE 1/4" CHANGE IT OUT FOR 1/2" BEFORE THEY GET IN THERE. i am having to do that in my main coop now b/c they poop doesn't fall thru and i have to scrape it off with a grill brush.
one bit of advice as well, if you are planning on putting shavings on the closed in part, i would only put them on HALF of it, furthest away from the open air part b/c if they start kicking the shavings into the open air part, it will block the poo from falling, and you'll have one massive buildup that you will have to go in and clean up every other day XD....
one more thing, it looks like there is a crack between the wire cloth on the open air side, i would get that sealed up, a coon can easily tear that open and just ravage your whole flock.

Yes, I researched before I bought the hardware cloth...I have 1/2" for the poop to fall through. Roger that, I will put the shavings on the far end half of the enclosed part. No cracks present. i think I took the pics before I tied up loose ends and sealed them off, pun intended
