Today Little Hen laid an egg as weird as herself. In the middle of the lawn obviously. Nothing to worry about. She's just all weird. Show me a picture of your weirdest/ugliest eggs!
A few of my girls started laying last week, all normal, but a little on the small side. I was just out when one of them wanted a snuggle. Then she laid her first egg on my foot, bit it was shellless. I don't know who was more shocked.
Not the ugliest I've seen, but not a good egg! The eggs from this one hen are always rough on the ends, very weak-shelled, and strange looking. Poor girl!
Our first egg ever, by the EE. It wasn’t cracked, just a spot that the shell factory missed. She’s now laying daily (!) and they’re all fine. Pullets gonna pullet.
Our Barred Rock went broody (impressively so!) Monday night. Without a cage available for broody jail, she spent yesterday on the nest. I removed the ceramic eggs, and then I hung a small, rechargeable battery powered camping fan on the coop, aimed straight at her. For whatever reason, she snapped out of it and back to being her crazy self.
I found this in a path where she’d been. I assume that her body is trying to get back to its regular business. There’s no trace of shell at all, just tough membrane, slightly torn:
