They sure did turn out interesting. I wish I know what went into Snowy so I could try and get at least another like her lol. I'm a sucker for cross breeds, it's a nice surprise to see how they grow, especially those mystery ones. I guess I'm so much a sucker for them I recently got a few more
I know this boy is half silkie due to it's comb and 5 toes

It looks to me like she has silver columbian (usually called light), barring, red, wheaten(?), and gold ducking (usually called brown, black breasted red, etc.).They sure did turn out interesting. I wish I know what went into Snowy so I could try and get at least another like her lol.
These will probably be some pretty common crosses, maybe some of you already have some. My flock is two Rhode Island Reds, one of which is my only rooster, four Barred Rock hens, five Golden Comet hens, and five Buff Orpington hens. They all are one year old right now. Since they began laying I have gotten 11 - 14 eggs every day, even through Wyoming blizzards. I think I need more though and am hoping to find a broody or two soon. Since there is only the one RIR rooster, all my first generation eggs will be; RIR x RIR, RIR x BR, RIR x BO, and RIR x GC (I know that the Golden Comets are already a hybrid, and this wouldn't be a true first gen hybrid, and therefore have a lot of variation) I'm mostly curious about the RIR x BR, and RIR x BO possibilities (and getting a few more straight RIR). Do any of you have experience with these crosses? Or photos?, Are there any sex links to RIR roo x BO, or BR hens?
On the other hand those Golden Comets have been excellent layers too, and I can identify their eggs from the rest by the darker shade of brown (I can tell the BR as the lightest shade too). So I can pull eggs and eliminate the wide varieties from GC 2nd gen, but may leave a few just to get clutch sizes I want, and just to see what happens.
If all goes as planned, I have broody pen waiting, I'll get pics and post more, but I also would greatly appreciate a preview of what to expect from any of these crosses.
Thanks
