Show Off Your Coops!

Here's the coop hubby built last weekend. We are trying to start up a little side business selling these and I am curious what you think they may be worth. The cart costs us $100 right out of the shoot and the roofing material for the coop and run is about $60. The barnwood we've been getting for free but that won't last long. We'll probably have to purchase an old barn, tear it down and store the wood. Hardware, wire, windows, studs, etc. probably run us another $60 ...so that's $220 in cost.

The glass windows can be taken out and stored during the warm months as the opening is covered with hardware cloth. There is two perches inside and a nesting box can be added easily. another model below, we added a bump out nesting box. This one was a bit smaller. The bigger coops dimensions are app. 4' x 5' and the runn is app. 4'x4'.

Very cute! How many hours do you have in it? I'd be tempted to charge $500.00 but I don't know if you could sell it at that. $400.00 ??? You need to make a profit for sure and make the project worth it.
I've found if you don't build it yourself, you have no idea the work and money involved. Some people don't have a clue. Even when you get the coop finished...there is the run...$$$
Good luck!!

Yeah, I've been looking at coop companies and how much they charge and was blown away. Even the runs are about $150!! We've been selling the larger coops for around $500 with the run so Im thinking we are pretty much on target. And, it's worth it to us. We have lots of cutsey options like workable shutters for the front window and victorian moldings for around the windows. We can even wire it for a heat light for freezing temps. ... we'll just charge more for individual upgrades like that. Thanks Eggsforsale.

This is our first try at building anything! Hopefully it won't get blown away by a hurricane. It took us many Sundays to build.
